Tony Snow dies
CNN:
Fox News where he worked for several years talks about his career as a talker. The NY Times has a nice obit too.
Former White House press secretary Tony Snow -- who once told reporters "I'm a very lucky guy" -- has died at the age of 53 after a second battle with cancer. This is sad news. Tony was one of the really great people in public life and he will be missed. I suspect he knew he did not have long to live and decided to leave the White House and get on the speaker circuit so that he could leave a bigger estate to his family including his three kids. I hope the money he made from his speaking gigs helps insure their future. He will truly be missed.Snow, who had been undergoing chemotherapy treatments for a recurrence of the disease, left his White House job September 14, 2007, and joined CNN in April as a conservative commentator.
In parting comments to reporters at his final White House news conference, he said, "I feel great."
He also called the job "the most fun I've ever had."
Snow said he was leaving the White House position to make more money. His White House salary was $168,000.
