Tiltroters arrive

MNFI:

MV-22 Ospreys with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 162, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, land in Amman, Jordan, July 22, 2008. The aircraft were carrying U.S. officials visiting the nation. U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. George J. Papastrat.
Will the Army be looking for their own version of this craft soon? I think they probably will. It was the Marines who developed the concept of vertical envelopment back in the 1950 and the Army quickly embraced it and used it extensively in Vietnam. So far the naysayers have been relatively quite since the Ospreys entered service in Iraq. I am eager to see it in operation in Afghanistan.
