Obama votes against national security

Wall Street Journal Editorial:

...

It says something about his national security world view, or his callowness, that Mr. Obama would vote to punish private companies that even the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee said had "acted in good faith." Had Senator Obama prevailed, a President Obama might well have been told "no way" when he asked private Americans to help his Administration fight terrorists. Mr. Obama also voted against the overall bill, putting him in MoveOn.org territory.

...
Liberal objections to this bill are based on the paranoid fantasy that the Bush administration cares what they are saying in conversations with people other than the enemy. It is hard to imagine why any rational person would think that someone communicating with he enemy is entitled to an expectation of privacy. It is also hard to imagine why they would be so arrogant as to think that the government has time to worry about conversations that are not with the enemy. Then there is their desire to punish those patriotic companies who worked with the government in intercepting enemy communications. It makes you wonder if Democrats like Obama even want to collect intelligence on the enemy's next attack.
