NFL Network

The controversy over whether cable stations will carry the NFL Network prompted me to tune into this evening to see the Colts and Falcons play. It is part of my Direct TV package, but I have never been motivated to watch it before. The pregame portion of the show was pretty good but the energy seem to fall off the table when the show was switched to Bryant Gumble and Cris Collingsworth for the play by play. Gumble sounded almost like he was board with the game and going through the motions and the normally animated Collingworth sounded almost phlegmatic.

On the upside the camera work and the graphics were very good. I will probably watch it again next Thursday for the Cowboys and Packers if I think of it, but I am not sure I would pay extra for the programing at this point. It might be more interesting if you could find a radio play by play for the action.

At this point I can understand the reluctance of the cable companies.
