Other German train bomber arrested in Lebanon
A Lebanese man suspected of planting a makeshift bomb on a German train last month as part of a failed terrorism plot has been arrested in Lebanon, the German federal prosecutor's office said on Thursday. With a name like Jihad, it is not surprising he was a suspect, then of course there was the evidence of him dragging the bombs onto the trains. No wonder the prosecuters suspects these men of being terrorist. My guess is, that with a name like Jihad, he is not a Lebanese Christian, but the story again does not indicate his religion. This seems to be a deliberate policy of the media, but Reuters has been bad about its reports on Muslim terrorist, In fact it is somewhat surprizing that they did not describe the accused as being part of a freedom fighters organization. The suspect, identified as a 19-year old named Jihad H., is one of two men German authorities believe tried to set off bombs on two trains in the cities of Dortmund and Koblenz.
The bombs, made with propane tanks and crude detonating devices, failed to go off but authorities say they would have killed a large number of people if they had detonated.
The other suspect, whom authorities have identified as a 21-year old Lebanese man named Youssef Mohamad E.H., was arrested in Germany on Saturday as he was apparently attempting to flee the country.
The prosecutor in Karlsruhe suspects both men, who were caught on video cameras dragging the suitcases that contained the bombs onto trains in Cologne, of belonging to a terrorist organization.
