Israel not responsible for beach explosion that killed Palestinian family

CBC:

A top Israeli general says the country's armed forces didn't cause the explosion that killed eight Palestinians on Friday and ended the fragile ceasefire in the region.

Hamas, which leads the Palestinian Authority parliament, blamed the deaths on Tel Aviv as its military branch resumed attacks on Israel for the first time in 16 months.

But Israeli Maj.-Gen. Yoav Galant said Sunday the military can prove it wasn't Israeli fire that hit the beach in Gaza, killing eight people.

Galant, who commands Israel's southern command, said Israel stopped firing 15 minutes before the explosion.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Sunday said he was sorry about the deaths, which included three children.

Hamas's military branch had been responsible for dozens of suicide bomb attacks on Israelis since the second Palestinian uprising began in 2000.

This is sounding like another phony incident used as an excuse for making war against Israel. Remember the staging killing of a Palestinian boy supposedly killed in a crossfire with the Israeli Defense Forces. The video was used as a causus belli for many Palestinian human bomb attacks. Hamas is certainly ruthless enough to kill other Palestinians to use as an excuse for breaking a truce that no longer served their purpose.

One of the difficulties Hamas will have this time is that it is also the head of the Palestinian government and making war against Israel could read to regime change for the death cult.
