Dem gnashing of teeth over appointments of Patel and Bongino
President Donald Trump announced Sunday evening that FBI Director Kash Patel has tapped former U.S. Secret Service agent and popular conservative commentator Dan Bongino to be his right-hand man.
The news that Bongino will serve as FBI deputy director was well received on the right and by members of the Trump administration. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, for instance, noted, "No better patriot or professional. Patel-Bongino atop the FBI is pure [fire]."
White House adviser Stephen Miller wrote, "Dan Bongino is the warrior America needs in this vital role."
On the left, however, there was weeping and gnashing of teeth — par for the course given that Democrats and liberal pundits were still in the process of melting down over Patel's Thursday confirmation.

Democrats are not handling their loss of an election very well. They act like Trump should be hiring Democrats instead of people who agree with his agenda. I think Patel and Bongino should be given a chance. They are both patriots who love this country.

In a warning to the California Democrat, Bongino, 50, said he is not ready to “move on” from the baseless Trump-Russia collusion hoax perpetrated by Schiff and other Trump opponents during his first term.
“I’m not letting this go. I wanna find out what happened because it can never happen again,” the former Secret Service agent said. “We had the FBI, in conjunction with the Department of Justice, officials in Congress, foreign governments, and intel people fabricate a story, invent a story that could have done serious and long-term harm to international relations with a nuclear-powered foe.”
