Biden lied to families about getting everyone out of Afghanistan

 Red State:

One of the biggest disasters of Joe Biden's time occupying the Oval Office has been the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle.

That resulted in 13 American military members being killed, and over 1,000 Americans, along with thousands more Afghan allies who put their lives on the line to help us, being left behind,

Yet no one has been held accountable for any of the monumental failures, despite two federal reports that came out in 2023 ripping the Biden team and holding them at fault in the matter.

Why? Because Joe Biden doesn't think anyone was at fault for anything.

In his book “The Internationalists: The Fight to Restore Foreign Policy After Trump,” Politico reporter Alexander Ward said “no one offered to resign” after the bugout “in large part because the president didn’t believe anyone had made a mistake.”

“Ending the war was always going to be messy,” Ward writes, according to excerpts that were reported by Axios.

Biden told his top aides, [National Security Advisor Jake] Sullivan included, that he stood by them and they had done their best during a tough situation,” the excerpt reads, with one White House official saying, “There wasn’t even a real possibility of a shake-up.”

Translation? Eh, things happen. We went from the "buck stops here" to "I'm not responsible for anything."

The book also notes Biden knew, when he told the American public he was committing to getting every American out before he pulled out, that that was not true. How incredibly disgraceful that he did it anyway, leaving so many behind to the mercy of the Taliban.

“There’s no one here who thinks we can meet that promise,” a senior White House official told the author.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) also says that Biden has repeatedly failed to meet with Gold Star families despite his requests for the White House to do so, including when two of the families were in D.C. on Thursday to visit with Issa.

“If Biden is so proud of what he claims is his mistake-free performance in Afghanistan, he should say it to the nation,” Issa told The Post.

“Better yet, let him face the Gold Star families he still refuses to invite to the White House.”

Biden did meet with families at the dignified transfer ceremony. That did not go well, with the families saying Biden talked more about his own son Beau and checked his watch multiple times during their meeting.

But they have a lot of questions that have not been answered. Darin Taylor Hoover's mother, Kelly Barnett, says they lied about her son's death. His father, Darin Hoover, didn't hold back in an interview with the NY Post.

...

It was one of the most disgraceful operations in the history of the US.  Americans knew it at the time and that is one of the reasons why Biden's approval rating craterted and has never really recovered.
