New York not taking loss of House seat well
The census numbers came out a couple of days ago and I reported how Texas and Florida gained seats, 2 and 1 respectively, and California and New York lost one seat each.
There had been predictions that Texas might actually gain 3 and Florida 2, so the change was slightly less than was expected, although still a positive move for the red states.
But one of the best things about the result was how much Democrats were melting down over it, particularly over the fact that New York lost a seat that they could have held onto if they just had 89 more people.
Here’s the Daily Show’s Trevor Noah losing his mind over it in an unfunny piece.
He apparently was so royally burnt that NY lost and Texas picked up 2, he included a picture of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in the video.
Now, it apparently goes completely over his head why people are fleeing New York for places like Texas, including lower taxes and now, less craziness when it comes to the pandemic rules, not to mention other regulations.
New York didn’t get screwed out of anything, no one is required to live in New York. People live where it’s attractive to live. So maybe your better question, Trevor, is to try to solve the problems that are causing people to flee.
Let’s ask Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s mom why people are fleeing New York.
People are now speculating if it might be AOC’s seat that gets the axe. That would be perfect symmetry in all this. You can just see House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) rubbing her hands together at the thought.
...
If they were counting today instead of a year ago New York would have lost even more population. See the story immediately below where a father pulled his daughter out of a school teaching CRT and moved to Florida where it is outlawed. I think the story about AOC's mom is also a hoot.
BTW, Cuomo was apparently hiding more deaths of the elderly at the nursing homes than previously reported. Just think if he had not been sending them to their deaths he might have saved way more than 89.
