Arizona law leads to Democrat demagoguery on immigration
Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona signed the nation’s toughest bill on illegal immigration into law on Friday. Its aim is to identify, prosecute and deport illegal immigrants.Sometimes it is hard to understand how President Obama got a reputation for being smart. Exactly what is fair about giving a preference to people who broke the law and jumped in line ahead of those who obeyed the rules? The move unleashed immediate protests and reignited the divisive battle over immigration reform nationally.
Even before she signed the bill at an afternoon news conference here, President Obama strongly criticized it.
Speaking at a naturalization ceremony for 24 active-duty service members in the Rose Garden, he called for a federal overhaul of immigration laws, which Congressional leaders signaled they were preparing to take up soon, to avoid “irresponsibility by others.”
The Arizona law, he added, threatened “to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans, as well as the trust between police and our communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe.”

We have a counterinsurgency policy in Afghanistan and Iraq of protecting the people, but in Arizona people are being kidnapped and murdered while the interior department is stopping the Border Patrol from using its turf to stop those coming here illegally.
Arizona past a law that Obama deems harsh, because of Obama's failure to enforce the rule of law when it comes to immigration. He has more empathy for those who broke the law than for the victims of those people.
If the Democrats push a comprehensive immigration reform that gives citizenship to those who came here illegally, they will be giving many people yet another reason to vote against them this year.
It is still not clear to me why immigration reform is so important to Hispanic voters. If they are voters, then they are already citizens. Are they for "reform" out of some tribal affinity? Why is the rule of law not important to them? The stories about the hardships of those who come here illegally play on peoples feelings of empathy, but they really don't address these other issues.
