AP's Texas geography problem

Their headline and the lead in the story says:

Small earthquake rattles southeast Texas

It turns out the quake was in Alice which is about 50 miles west of Corpus Christi, neither of which are anywhere close to southeast Texas. That area is general described as the Coastal Bend area which is closer to the Rio Grande Valley than southeast Texas. Houston is in southeast Texas.

Comments

  1. Unless the Alice Police Department went to dinner in Corpus (Nueces County) the article has misplaced Jim Wells County - since Alice is the County Seat of Jim Wells. A few minutes by the proof reader would have made this more factual and less amusing to folks in that part of the state.
