Bin Laden tape means trouble for truthers
Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden will address the American people by videotape on the sixth anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terror attacks, a terrorism watch group said. All those truthers who think the destruction of the Twin Towers was an inside job will have to cover their eyes and ears as bin Laden again confesses his guilt in the mass murder of New Yorkers. Why they did not believe him in his earlier confessions has never been made clear to me, but he seems like the kind of guy who would be eager to give them another demonstration. The new video was announced by a banner ad on Islamist Web sites from As Sahab, al Qaeda's media production group, according to SITE (Search for International Terrorist Entities).
The ad includes a photograph of bin Laden with a black beard, although his beard was most recently seen streaked with gray.
"I think it works for their benefit that he looks young, he looks healthy," said SITE director Rita Katz, adding that bin Laden's beard may have been dyed, The Associated Press reported. Watch Wolf Blitzer's report on the video »
Bin Laden's last video appearance came days before the 2004 elections and was widely credited with giving a boost to President Bush's re-election campaign.
In that tape, bin Laden said he decided in 1982 to attack the twin towers of the World Trade Center, after the invasion of Lebanon by Israel, which he claimed was backed by the U.S. Navy.
