An inconvient mess

Washington Post:

Frosty E. Hardiman is neither impressed nor surprised that "An Inconvenient Truth," the global-warming movie narrated by former vice president Al Gore, received an Oscar nomination this week for best documentary.

"Liberal left is all over Hollywood," he grumbled a few hours after the nomination was announced.

Hardiman, a parent of seven here in the southern suburbs of Seattle, has himself roiled the global-warming waters. It happened early this month when he learned that one of his daughters would be watching "An Inconvenient Truth" in her seventh-grade science class.

"No you will not teach or show that propagandist Al Gore video to my child, blaming our nation -- the greatest nation ever to exist on this planet -- for global warming," Hardiman wrote in an e-mail to the Federal Way School Board....

His angry e-mail (along with complaints from a few other parents) stopped the film from being shown to Hardiman's daughter.

The teacher in that science class, Kay Walls, says that after Hardiman's e-mail she was told by her principal that she would receive a disciplinary letter for not following school board rules that require her to seek written permission to present "controversial" materials in class.

The e-mail also pressured the school board to impose a ban on screenings of the film for the district's 22,500 students.

The ban, which the school board says was merely a "moratorium," was lifted Tuesday night, subject to rigorous conditions. Still, the action has appalled the film's producers and triggered a ferocious national backlash.

...
The film panders to the chicken little "science" that blames man for global warming and exaggerates the consequences of global warming. Until AlGore can explain global warming on Mars and other planets his theories should not be accepted as anything other than a guess. His propaganda film that is being used to brain wash kids needs to be vigorously countered with truths that he finds inconvenient.

I am confused about the articles that mention Kay Walls a science teacher, of all things, could not find balance regarding Gore's so called documentary on global warming.
Don't get me wrong, I believe global warming exists. But the ego of Gore and others that blame it solely on man, particularly American man, is to blame is kind of ridiculous. And a science teacher who can't come up with some facts is not much of a science teacher at all.
Do a global internet search on Google about "ice age". Easily, many results come up showing that Ice Ages occur about every 80,000 to 100,000 years apart - 100,000 average.
Think about that. If Ice ages are 100,000 years apart, then dead in the middle is the peak of global warming phase. And there is much scientific proof that this is a repeating cycle. Should be easy for a so called science teacher to locate.
Now, when was our last Ice age peak? Scientists state it was 18,000 to 20,000 years ago. Lets take that 20,000 figure to round the number out. That would mean that we have 30,000 years to go to reach our peak global warming point. After that, we begin a long 50,000 year global cooling phase headed toward the next Ice Age.
Now, I would like to think that man in general and me in particular, was powerful enough to determine the what happens to the entire Earth in terms of weather conditions. Makes me feel good that I have that much influence and power.
But in reality, I think that Gore better come to the realization that no matter what he or we do, the global warming cycle is going to continue for another 30,000 years or so and all the ice will be gone, the ocean levels will come up, and hey - maybe the dinosaurs will return to the humid year round climate like has occurred multiple times in our Earth's historical records.
My opinion only, but simpleton egotistical logic that Gore uses, and the science teacher lacks, is almost embarrassing. But man has always reduce things to simple little concepts that he can understand and control because he feels belittled if something is beyond his control in the end.
If you get a chance, ask the so called science teacher if he/she has any thoughts on that. Forget asking Gore, he is a lost soul pushing an agenda.
