AP story runs 5 pages without explaining civilian casualties in Iraq
The sad stories go on and on. Mostly Iraqi civilians killed accidentally in the war. Yet the writer truly fails to comprehend why there are so many civilian casualties. It is another example of the ignorance of reporters in the war in Iraq. Not once in the story does the writer mention that the enemy illegally disguises and camoflages himself as a civilian and attempts to use real civilians to cover his attacks. This obvious violation of the Geneva Convention is never mentioned, nor is it mentioned that the reason for the specific provision requiring distinguishing uniforms is to avoid civilian casualties. The writer does not come out and blame the US troops directly, but many of the Iraqis do. Others correctly blame the enemy.
