Texas Guard troops deployed to Clinton's quagmire

For the first time since World War II, a large group of Texas National Guard troops deployed to Europe on Friday to begin yearlong peacekeeping missions in Kosovo and Bosnia.

More than 1,500 soldiers got a rousing send-off from families, friends and dignitaries at Baylor University's Ferrell Center before heading to Fort Hood to begin the trip overseas.

Most of the soldiers belong to Texas' 36th Infantry Division, but the deployment includes troops from 25 other states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. They've been training together since August for work on maintaining stability in the two nations.
