Antiwar pukes climb down from willie peter obsession, sorta

Protein Wisdom:

Attempts by the left (or, if you prefer, left-leaning “moderates”) to keep the White Phosphorus chemical weapons story alive continues apace —though the new tactic seems to be to soften the stance a bit in order to paint the use of WP more as an open moral question than as a question either of legality or battlefield effectiveness.

From Michael Sticking’s “What is white phosphorus?"

"I come back to this: What message does the use of WP send to those whose hearts and minds the U.S. is trying to win over?..."
What an idiotic question. When you are using white phosphorus you are not firing it at someone whose heart and mind you are trying to win. You are firing it at someone you are trying to kill before he kills you. If you fire any other weapon at someone you are not in the hearts and minds mode. Your mode involves the destruction of the enemy. Antiwar activist are so ignorant of warfare that they crank themselves up on a rant over a common battlefield weapon, whose use and purpose they know nothing of. This whole white phosposphorus obsession is based on their ignorance of a weapon that has been in the US arsenal for at least 80 years. It is not a secret weapon. Its use is not classified. It is not illegal.
