Is this the plot of a new Disney movie?

AP via NY Post:

A 12-year-old girl who was abducted and beaten by men trying to force her into a marriage was found being guarded by three lions who apparently had chased off her captors, a policeman said Tuesday.

...

She was beaten repeatedly before she was found June 9 by police and relatives on the outskirts of Bita Genet, Wondimu said. She had been guarded by the lions for about half a day, he said.

"They stood guard until we found her and then they just left her like a gift and went back into the forest," Wondimu said.

The Chicago way

Eric Daugherty @EricLDaugh · 1h NOW: JD Vance absolutely decimates Gov. JB Pritzker "Governor Pritzker will talk a lot about how bad Donald Trump is, about how bad I am, and about how bad the administration is. He is the governor of a state that where its biggest city has murder rates that rival the most violent places in the THIRD WORLD!" "WHY is he so mad at Donald Trump for trying to keep Chicagoans safe? He should be mad at the CRIMINALS that he has failed to keep at bay. We're trying to help him, and we're trying to help the residents of his biggest city." "I wish that he would let us, because he certainly isn't doing the job himself!" Chicago could be so much better if it had more responsible leadership. Democrats in Illinois don't appear up to the job.

The plot to kill George W. Bush

DC Daily Journal: Politics can be a dangerous game. But it should never cost you your life. And now the FBI uncovered an assassination plot that left one Republican shellshocked. An Iraqi citizen living in Ohio planned to transport ISIS members into the United States “who do not care if they are killed during the mission” to murder former President George W. Bush, according to court filings. Shihab Ahmed Shihab Shihab, 53, believed the former commander-in-chief was to blame for the deaths of countless Iraqis and the country’s destruction during “Operation Iraqi Freedom.” Shihab pled guilty last year to attempting to provide material assistance to terrorists and was sentenced in February to more than 14 years in jail for the scheme, which was detailed in court documents. Shihab served as a gunrunner for al Qaeda during the Iraq War. According to federal prosecution records, he carried weaponry from Syria into Iraq and smuggled explosive-packed vehicles that were arranged as traps a...

Oil prices rise in the wake of Syrian missile strike

Bloomberg/Fuel Fix: Oil jumped as the U.S. cruise-missile attack against Syria roiled global financial markets. Futures in New York and London surged more than 2 percent to the highest in a month. The strike early Friday morning targeted hangars, planes and fuel tanks at one Syrian military airfield, according to a U.S. official. Syria borders Iraq, OPEC’s second-biggest crude producer. The news rippled across financial markets, with the yen and gold advancing as stocks declined. “It seems today’s spike is just a knee-jerk reaction to the missile strike,” said Thomas Pugh, a commodities economist at Capital Economics. “Syria produces little oil itself so the spike probably reflects the risk of increased tensions between the U.S. and Russia or Iran.” Oil had struggled to extend a rally beyond $51 a barrel as concern over surging U.S. supplies countered optimism around a possible extension to production cuts led by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. The strike aga...
