Rice confirmed despite therapy sessions by the Senate Democrat light wight caucas

NY Times:

...

Those who voted against Ms. Rice, besides Mr. Jeffords and Mr. Dayton, were Senators Barbara Boxer of California, who was one of her most outspoken critics, Edward M. Kennedy and John Kerry of Massachusetts, Carl Levin of Michigan, Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia, Jack Reed of Rhode Island, Richard Durbin of Illinois, Daniel Akaka of Hawaii, Evan Bayh of Indiana, Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey and Tom Harkin of Iowa.
Jeffords pretends to be an independent but votes with the light weight caucus on most matters since betraying Repubilans who elected him. Boxer competes with Patty Murray for the most intellectually light weight title on most issues. Murray's absence from the list on this vote is surprising. Kennedy and Kerry have been the proponents of wimpy foreign policy for over 30 years. Byrd's intellectual firepower has been fading ever since his dog Billy died a few years ago. Reed, Durbin and Lautenberg have been reliably wrong on most issues. Akaka has never done anything to merit my attention before.

The real surprise on the list is Bayh. He is normally a reliable voice of sanity among Democrats. Apparently he sees some political advantage in joining the weird fringe of his party. However, in doing so he is ceding ground to Hillary Clinton who has been tacking to the middle in the past week. Her political calculations may be disengenious but at least they have the benefit of being smart.
