Hambali bagged

The man who may have planned the hotel lobby bombing of a Marriott in Indonesia has been captured in Thailand.

"...The suspect, a 36-year-old Islamic scholar, has been wanted in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines in connection with a string of bombings. He was believed to have been an associate of Zacarias Moussaoui, who is already in custody in connection with the Sept. 11 attacks."

"...The man whose arrest was announced today had been the target of an international manhunt by law enforcement agencies since 2001. He was believed to be the link between Al Qaeda and an Indonesian terror group known as Jemaah Islamiah.

"Hambali had been viewed by his pursuers as 'one of the world's most lethal terrorists,' as one official told Reuters today. Hambali is believed to have helped to organize a meeting in Malaysia in January 2000 attended by two men who later became hijackers in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, a senior administration official told Reuters."
