Iran's cyber attack on Kash Patel
...
Kash Patel, tapped by President-elect Donald Trump to lead the FBI, was recently informed by the bureau that he had been the target of an Iranian hacking operation.
The cyberattack may have compromised some of Patel’s communications, CNN reported earlier this week.
This incident marks yet another effort by Iranian hackers to infiltrate Trump’s inner circle.
In September, the Justice Department filed charges against three individuals who are part of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for hacking Trump campaign staff and leaking sensitive information.
The leaked data was allegedly shared with media outlets and the campaign of President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, aimed at undermining Trump’s reelection bid.
The Justice Department described the hacking operation as a “wide-ranging campaign” that used fake online personas and phishing emails to target four Trump campaign operatives, journalists, current and former government officials, and other individuals.
Among the stolen materials were a dossier on Vice President-elect JD Vance and Trump’s debate preparation documents for his June 27 showdown with Biden.
The indictment names IRGC operatives Masoud Jalili, Seyyed Ali Aghamiri, and Yasar Balaghi as perpetrators of the scheme.
Their hacking activity reportedly began in January 2020, following Trump’s order to eliminate IRGC Commander Qassem Soleimani in a drone strike in Iraq.

This shows who the despots who rule Iran really fear. Having failed to stop Trump's reelection we can probably expect more such attacks. But with Trump back in office Iran will have to be wary of triggering another attack.
