Russia's war with Ukraine has weakened both countries and exposed Russia's military as weak and inept.  While Ukraine is also weak militarily The US and its allies have attempted to prop it up.  If Russia has struggled to control Uraine it shows that Russia is not a likely conventional threat to NATO,
