Democrats are underwater in Maryland?

As one Democratic strategist told me last week, “If Biden can just get a win and pass this bill, voters will be happy,” completely missing why voters are falling away from Biden.

Last week, the Goucher College poll conducted here in Maryland shows that since March, Biden's job approval has gone from 62% to 53%, with only 43% of independent voters approving of his performance.

The two Democrats representing the state in the Senate, Sen. Chris Van Hollen, who is up for reelection in 2022, and senior Sen. Benjamin Cardin, were underwater at 44% and 46%.

Republican Gov. Larry Hogan, conversely, is at a robust 68% approval rating, up 6 percentage points since the last poll.

I think Democrats who think passing a massive spending bill will solve their political problem are delusional. There are too many other issues where Biden and the Dems are underwater leaving many to be eager to vote against them.   If they are losing Maryland, their troubles are deeper than they ever imagined.

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare

Conn Carroll: A new survey of 368 midsize to large companies found that 29% of them are considering terminating their active employee health care plans when Obamacare is full implemented in 2014. Only 71% of employers surveyed said they did not expect to drop their health coverage, while 20% said they did not know and 9% said they were planning to exit. The latest survey, conducted by Towers Watson, echoes an ealier survey by McKinsey & Co. finding that 30% of private-sector employers were planning to drop their employee health insurance coverage by 2014.
