Teachers; unions still making ridiculous Covid demands before doing their job
The teachers unions are at it again. It looks like they will refuse to return to the classroom in the fall, this time with the excuse some students may be unvaccinated.
That's how we interpret the latest business item on the National Education Association's agenda that would amount to a national teachers' strike in the fall if approved because there is no way every student will be vaccinated by the first day of school.
It's an unreasonable demand that the risk of coronavirus diminish to zero before life returns to normal.
...
This is as ridiculous as demanding there be zero risk of a car accident before they drive to their job. It is absurd. If the teachers have been vaccinated they have little risk of catching the virus from students to begin with. Texas schools were operating the whole school year in most places without any major outbreak of Covid. My Texas grandkids were in school without incident last year. The lockdown policies make no sense and are counterproductive.
