Robocalls and how to deal with them

NY Times:

Yes, It’s Bad. Robocalls, and Their Scams, Are Surging.

The volume of automated phone calls has skyrocketed since last year, according to a service that tracks them, and complaints have also risen sharply.
I have unfortunately gotten my shares of these calls.  My landline phone has a call blocking feature that I use regularly with them.  You can usually tell it is a robocall by the delayed response when you say hello.  At that point, I block the call and hang up.  If one slips by and responds right away I immediately demand "Who is calling, and why are you calling?"  You should never say "OK" or "Yes" if you do talk with the scammers.

  1. Half of them will call your cell phone, if they do not get you...on your landline thanks to Microsoft, Google, etc. profiles. If you block them they merely switch to a 2nd set of numbers or mask it. All the information companies collect is sold to anyone who can afford to buy it today!
