Not to mention that it maintains a corrupt bargain that keeps crappy ethanol in your tank and ruining your equipment

Jeff Greenfield:
How Iowa Hijacked Our Democracy

The first symbolic hurdle of the presidential campaign is anti-democratic, meaningless, even harmful.
He has some good points on the undemocratic aspects of the caucuses,  but in case, you haven't noticed I find the ethanol pledge a corrupt bargain where politicians promise to keep spending your money on a crappy product in order to get votes in Iowa.  They may not see the inherent corruption, but it is there and it is cost you money every time you have to take your mower or chainsaw in because it will not start even though you spend extra money on fuel additives that are supposed to cure the problem.  In some cases, it also damages automobile engines.  It also reduces mileage and is completely unnecessary since the supposed scarcity of oil and gas is over.
