To get serious about fighting ISIL, more is needed now

NY Times:

ISIS Fight Requires More Military Help, U.S. Officials Say

To deal a lasting blow to the Islamic State, officials believe that additional forces will be needed to work with Iraqi, Kurdish and Syrian opposition fighters.
This is what many of us haveing been saying for months including most of the GOP presidential candidates.  Ted Cruz has been criticized for his "carpet bombing" talk, but when pressed on the issue has made clear he is looking for the kind of operational tempo used in previous Gulf Wars where significant more air power was used to prepare the battle space as well as more serious aid to the Kurds who are the only really effective ground force in the current war.
