2,000 job opening in Eagle Ford area

Corpus Christi Caller-Times:
About 2,000 oil, gas and transportation jobs will be up for grabs in Robstown this week at Job News USA's third local Eagle Ford Shale-themed job fair in six months.
The company's San Antonio office will bring employers to the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds for the second time in four months between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Job News USA is partnering with U.S. Rep. Blake Farenthold, R-Corpus Christi, to hold the fair, company regional director Kevin Robbins said.
Employers have been scrambling to fill thousands of jobs to keep up with vigorous drilling atop the Eagle Ford Shale formation, a ribbon of oil and gas deposits spanning 400 miles beneath a band of 24 counties in South and Central Texas.
Confirmed participants in Wednesday's job fair include Cameron, Sunoco Logistics, Tetra Technologies and Archer Well Services among others, Robbins said.
More companies are considering joining the fair, he said.
"The good thing on this one is there are some positions for people who don't have experience in the oil field," Robbins said.
Available positions include entry-level work that will allow employees to train and possibly move up.

There is still a shortage of drivers with a commercial drivers license.  I think here are several spin off jobs in the area too.  It is too bad this administration does not see oil and gas development as an answer to the unemployment problem in this country.  Just last week Obama toured a solar energy plant that cost billions and added a net of about five total jobs.
