A Democrat gift to the GOP

The Obama administration’s announcement that it will push to reinstate the assault weapons ban has stunned Capitol Hill and revived a debate that has been dormant for years.

Congress’s leading supporter of the assault weapons ban reacted with surprise and praise after Attorney General Eric Holder indicated the administration will push to renew the ban that expired in 2004.

“That’s a thrilling prospect,” said Ray Zacarro, spokesman for Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), whose 1996 run for Congress was fueled by outrage at the cancellation of the ban. “We have a bill ready to go.”

It should be a thrilling prospect for Republicans to show how Democrats have been lying in recent elections on 2nd Amendment issues. They also will face a fundamental problems on the facts which do not support the proposed ban. When is the last time you have seen a story where an "assault weapon" was used to commit a crime. This ban is about emotion and not common sense. Liberals don't like these weapons because they look "scary" to them.

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare

Conn Carroll: A new survey of 368 midsize to large companies found that 29% of them are considering terminating their active employee health care plans when Obamacare is full implemented in 2014. Only 71% of employers surveyed said they did not expect to drop their health coverage, while 20% said they did not know and 9% said they were planning to exit. The latest survey, conducted by Towers Watson, echoes an ealier survey by McKinsey & Co. finding that 30% of private-sector employers were planning to drop their employee health insurance coverage by 2014. When the Congressional Budget Office crunched Obamacare's spending numbers, they estimated that only 7% of employees currently covered by employer-sponsored plans would lose their plans. ...
