Zimbabwe is dying
Bob Herbert examines the death of health care in Zimbabwe. Regular readers may be aware of some of the details, but Herbert does a good roundup of the facts and and finds some new ones. He correctly says the problem is Mugabe, but like most people he offers no real solution. That African government can tolerate such a government in their area says something about them too.
Mugabe is a despot who needs to be removed and it can only be done by an outside force. The government is already largely dysfunctional except for the security forces that continue to impose Mugabe's tyranny on his people. How much longer he can continue to print worthless currency to pay them is a real question at this point.
This week saw the introduction of the $100 trillion dollar bank note. At the time of printing it was worth $300 US dollars. In a few days it will be worth a fraction of that amount.
