fathers are actually the least likely to hurt the children, while stepfathers are most likely.
the stats lump the two together to demonize blood fathers with the actions of stepfathers.
not to say that blood fathers dont do this too, they do... however, one often has to read the article carefully to find out which, just like one has to read carefully to figure out if there should be a (D) by someones name.

I DO NOT know if freeman is blood or step. the mother remarried again, and there is now a step father in the scene, and so its hard to find the details since step father will pick up on this.
i AM NOT asserting that the step father alwasy is bad, or always does it, just that our general perceptions do not make the distinction any more between dad and stepdad most of the time (which changes a womans perceptions as to what is a safer choice for her and her family as she moves through life).
and i agree.. lets hope that he is charged correctly... which i think wont be a problem. he wrote an autobiography 400 pages that details his actions.
