Israel rejects cease fire

This story suggest that "at least 20 more rockets were fired by Hamas militants in reprisal into southern Israel." That is an inaccurate statement of fact. The firings are a continuation of the rocket attacks that prompted the Israeli retaliation. I am sure the Times knows this, and they have just slipped into the sloppy thinking that surrounds Hamas and Palestinian propaganda about the war.
After five straight days of punishing air attacks, Israel rejected a proposal for a 48-hour cease-fire in its military onslaught in Gaza on Wednesday, saying it would maintain pressure on Hamas. But it did not rule out future diplomacy and was open to ways of increasing humanitarian aid.I noted in a post last night that Israel would probably reject the call for a ceasefire. It is already allowing humanitarian aid to enter Gaza.The decision was announced after a security cabinet meeting here.
