Al Qaeda's useful idiots at ACLU want to stop recruiting

The busy little beavers of the New York Civil Liberties Union are at it again.

Yesterday, they joined with Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer to release a hoked-up report meant to bar military recruiters from city schools.

This came a day after the group launched another of its dreary assaults on the NYPD, asserting - yet again - that the department is insufficiently supervised.

The recruiting report accuses the Department of Education of not doing enough to protect students from recruiters' sales pitches. It's based on a decidedly unscientific survey of around 1,000 students at 45 schools that the researchers selected because of a high minority enrollment and strong recruiter presence.

And who conducted the survey?

Well, in addition to Stringer's office, the NYCLU teamed up with an outfit called the Students or Soldiers? Coalition - a collective of radical left-wing groups that don't oppose aggressive military recruiting so much as they do military recruiting period.

As to recommendations, the NYCLU wants city schools to give each military branch no more access to students than it would any individual college - and to mount an expensive campaign to inform students of their rights when it comes to military recruiting. (Never mind that it's already DOE policy to do so.)

Of course, this kind of behavior is par for the course for the NYCLU. Just the day before, the group took shot at its favorite target - the NYPD.

That report highlighted an alleged rise in allegations of police misconduct since 2000 and recommended a complete overhaul of the department's complaint-review process. (Never mind, of course, that the rise in complaints tracks with the institution of Gotham's 311 directory, which made complaining about everything a whole lot easier.)

So, what to make of all this?

Just that the NYCLU has gone seriously off the rails.

Al Qaeda could have no better representation than the ACLU. It is an organization at war with law enforcement and with our war against al Qaeda. The ACLU recently touted the release of some data on military court martials that it planned to use in its propaganda battle against the war with the Islamic religious bigots.

As Ralph Peters has pointed out in the past, the total number of court martials for criminal behavior is insignificantly small in comparison to the civilian population. He indicated there had been about 60 such court martials out of well over one million troops. By comparison, the hippy city of Santa Cruz, California would have the equivalent of over 3000 during the comparable time period. You don't see the ACLU showing much interest in the criminals of Santa Cruz. If they did they would probably be more interested in setting them free anyway.
