Several days of fighting in Gaza, along the Egyptian border, have left nearly 40 Palestinians dead. The Israelis are destroying over a hundred houses along the border that are used, or could be used, for tunnels from Egypt that enable weapons and bomb making materials to be smuggled in. The deaths of 13 Israeli soldiers to roadside bombs recently galvanized the army to shut down the tunnel system. This had not been done before because it meant destroying hundreds of homes along the border. As if on cue, the UN condemned the destruction of the houses, but not the illegal smuggling of weapons and bomb making materials into Gaza. Israelis ignored the UN resolution, but the Palestinians hoped this might be a step closer to European or UN sanctions on Israel. This would hurt the Israeli economy, force many Israelis to emigrate and bring Palestinians one step closer to their goal of destroying Israel for good.


Why aren't we putting pressure on Egypt to destroy the tunnels on their side of the border. Egypt cannot ignor acts of war against Israel that uses its territory as an infiltration and supply route. Israel and the US should both be looking at the other end of these tunnels. A good first step would be to invite Egyptian troops to explore the tunnels that Israel has found so they can locate the Egyptian entrances. The tunnels are not from no where and they should be dealt with on both sides if Egypt is really interested in peace with Israel.

Drones appear to be replacing jets for many operations.  The Russia-Ukraine war is an example of that.  Drones are often hard to detect and can be used for intelligence operations as well as for attacking enemy targets.  It would not surprise me to see drones engaging other drones in combat.  They also cost much less than manned fighters.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. With a new facility in Houston, Texas, Apple will reportedly double its investment in advanced manufacturing along with increasing investments in AI and silicon engineering. The company said in a press release that the Houston facility will produce servers to support Apple Intelligence, the "personal intelligence system that helps users write, express themselves, and get things done." ... The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
