Is the US serious about enforcing immigration law--no

San Fancisco Chronicle:

The House overwhelmingly rejected a controversial bill Tuesday that would have denied most types of emergency room care to illegal immigrants and required hospitals to report them to the government to be deported.

This bill was flawed because it refused care. But if you are serious about enforcing the law, you should require people to turn in those who the have reason to believe have broken it. The same thing happens when children of illegal aliens go to school. The US has essentially decided that it is better to have educated and healthy illegal aliens than it is to find them and deport them.
