Inside the CIA’s secret fight against Mexico’s drug cartels

Working with special Mexican army and navy units, the CIA for years has been running covert operations to hunt down Mexico’s most-wanted narcos, a Reuters investigation finds. Among the captures: a son of cartel chief Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.

It is also in Mexico's interest to defeat the cartels, and that is one reason why they are working with the US CIA.

America is fighting back hard against the drug scum poisoning its streets, and Tuesday’s decisive U.S. military strike on Venezuelan narco-terrorists marks a new chapter in that battle. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, pulling double duty as acting national security adviser, made it crystal clear that these actions aren’t one-offs—they’re the new normal for dealing with cartels that dare to flood the nation with deadly narcotics.

Rubio didn’t mince words during his trip to Mexico, slamming the old ways of just intercepting boats as ineffective. “The United States has long, for many, many years, established intelligence that allow us to interdict and stop drug boats, and we did that and it doesn’t work,” he stated. Instead, he emphasized a no-nonsense approach: “What will stop them is when you blow them up, when you get rid of them.”

He doubled down on America’s commitment to crush these threats anywhere they pop up. “We’re going to take on drug cartels wherever they are and wherever they’re operating against the interests of the United States,” Rubio declared.

Drones appear to be replacing jets for many operations.  The Russia-Ukraine war is an example of that.  Drones are often hard to detect and can be used for intelligence operations as well as for attacking enemy targets.  It would not surprise me to see drones engaging other drones in combat.  They also cost much less than manned fighters.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. With a new facility in Houston, Texas, Apple will reportedly double its investment in advanced manufacturing along with increasing investments in AI and silicon engineering. The company said in a press release that the Houston facility will produce servers to support Apple Intelligence, the "personal intelligence system that helps users write, express themselves, and get things done." ... The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
