Coast Guard captures 4 tons of cocaine

The U.S. Coast Guard seized more than four tons of cocaine worth an estimated $64.5 million in the Caribbean Sea, officials said.

The seized contraband, totaling more than five tons of narcotics overall, was a result of two interdictions in international waters by the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Diligence, the Coast Guard said in a press release Wednesday.

Diligence, a 210-foot, Reliance-class medium endurance cutter, was deployed to the Coast Guard District Southeast area of responsibility in support of the Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATF-S).

Diligence's crew on Aug. 7 detected and boarded a suspicious go-fast vessel approximately 136 miles southwest of Negril, Jamaica. Diligence's boarding team interdicted the vessel, seizing 1,500 pounds of marijuana.

The contraband was then transferred to and offloaded by the Coast Guard Cutter Hamilton in Port Everglades on Aug. 25, as part of the largest quantity of drugs offloaded in Coast Guard history.

This should be a real hit to the drug cartel.   It is probably pretty hard to hide 1,500 pounds of marijuana.  Those who smoke dope will be looking for other resources.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. With a new facility in Houston, Texas, Apple will reportedly double its investment in advanced manufacturing along with increasing investments in AI and silicon engineering. The company said in a press release that the Houston facility will produce servers to support Apple Intelligence, the "personal intelligence system that helps users write, express themselves, and get things done." ... The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
