Biden pardons questioned

Newly uncovered documents expose President Joe Biden’s detachment from critical clemency decisions, with aides scrambling to create a paper trail suggesting his involvement in thousands of pardons and commutations signed by autopen in his final days. National Archives records reveal internal memos showing Biden’s team worked to portray him as the decision-maker, despite evidence he was largely uninvolved.

House Oversight Committee aides highlighted on social media, “Internal emails reveal Biden didn’t review thousands of pardons granted in his final days and even his own White House lawyers were scrambling for proof he approved them.”

This raises serious questions about the legitimacy of the process, particularly as Biden’s autopen signed off on clemency for felons, including violent offenders, without his direct oversight.

Biden’s administration issued over 4,200 pardons—more than any other president—using three autopen-signed warrants, including pre-emptive pardons for family members, Democratic allies, and anti-Trump Republicans involved in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot investigations, as well as Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Notably, a single warrant pardoned hundreds, including a murderer who killed a woman and her child to silence her testimony in a drug case.

Bradley Weinsheimer, Biden’s Associate Deputy Attorney General, flagged “highly problematic” language in this warrant, warning in a Jan. 18 email that vague wording could lead to unintended commutations for violent crimes.

The National Archives also found no records confirming Biden’s approval for commuting nearly all federal death sentences, fueling criticism from figures like Mike Howell of the Oversight Project, who told The Washington Times, “We’ve been right all along and do not mind being proven right again. Now is the time for actual accountability. There are death-row inmates with bad commutations who need to be taken care of, in addition to all the other political cronies with legally void pardons.”

These pardons are questionable and could lead to the courts overturning the alleged commutations.  Many of them, if not all, never should have been granted.
