Trump cuts deal with Mexico to control migration, drug trafficking

On Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump revealed that he and Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum have reached an agreement aimed at addressing two major concerns at the U.S.-Mexico border: migration and drug trafficking. The deal focuses on curbing the flow of migrant caravans and reducing the smuggling of drugs into the United States.

In a statement shared via Truth Social, Trump described his conversation with Sheinbaum as “wonderful,” noting that the two leaders not only discussed strategies to halt unauthorized migration but also ways to tackle the growing problem of illegal drug inflow.

“She has agreed to stop Migration through Mexico, and into the United States, effectively closing our Southern Border,” Trump wrote. “We also talked about what can be done to stop the massive drug inflow into the United States, and also, U.S. consumption of these drugs. It was a very productive conversation!”

Though Trump did not elaborate on specific measures to curb drug trafficking, he stressed that the agreement would be implemented immediately. “Mexico will stop people from going to our Southern Border, effective immediately. THIS WILL GO A LONG WAY TOWARD STOPPING THE ILLEGAL INVASION OF THE USA. Thank you!!!,” he added in his post.

This announcement comes after a period of escalating tension, during which Trump threatened to impose tariffs on Mexican imports. Earlier this week, Trump announced his intention to apply a 25% tariff on all goods from both Mexico and Canada, starting from the first day of his presidency. He made it clear that these tariffs would remain in place until both countries took stronger action to address illegal migration and the flow of drugs into the U.S.

This is a good move by Mexico.  That country will also avoid the heavy tariffs Trump threatened.  People from other countries were using Mexico and the cartels to push migrants into the US and traffic drugs.  Canada was also being used for trafficking illegals into the US.

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare
