Polling on the issues generally favors Republicans

New polling shows that former President Trump has opened up a 9-point lead over Vice President Kamala Harris when it comes to managing the economy, which is shaping up to be the most critical issue for voters heading into the 2024 presidential election.

According to Gallup, 54% of Americans believe Trump is better suited to handle the economy compared to 45% for Harris.

The economy remains the top issue for Republicans and for the nation overall, but it doesn’t even crack the top five concerns for Democrats.

Veteran Democratic strategist Hank Sheinkopf points out that Democrats are placing their trust in Harris to deliver on the economy.

“Independents are looking for a reason to vote for a candidate, but they just haven’t found it yet,” Sheinkopf told Fox News Digital, adding that the economy is still front and center in voters’ minds.

“Americans focus on the issue most important to them in every election. This time it’s their pockets. And they are still feeling pain no matter what candidates say. Time is running out for Harris to prove she can make it better.”

Sheinkopf also argued that the economy has become just as politicized as issues like immigration or abortion, which could further fuel the polarization in voters’ perceptions.

While the economy tops the list of concerns for Republicans, other issues that resonate with GOP voters include immigration, terrorism and national security, crime, and taxes.

On the other hand, Democrats rank the future of democracy as their number one issue, followed by the type of Supreme Court justices a candidate would appoint, abortion, health care, and education.

Beyond the economy, Trump leads Harris on immigration (54%-45%) and foreign affairs (52%-47%).

However, Harris maintains leads on several issues that matter most to Democratic voters, including health care (54%-44%), abortion (56%-40%), and climate change (61%-35%).

Climate change remains the least important issue for Republicans, with just 5% calling it a priority.

Democrat women and young men appear to be more concerned with having unprotected sex.  That Democrats are not too concerned about the economy is strange.  Democrats are also generally supportive of the Biden-Harris open borders policy, but the country as a whole does not support that policy.  The Democrat concern about the future of democracy is just bazaar to me.  I look forward to voting against their strange policies far into the future.
