Marines promote UT-Arlington grad
Houston Chronicle:
UT-Arlington grad becomes Marine Corps' first Black four-star general
Gen. Michael E. Langley became the first Black Marine to receive a fourth star on his shoulder in the Corps’ 246-year history in a ceremony on Saturday
Becoming a four-star general in the Marine Corps is quite an accomplishment for any Marine. As a former Marine officer, I know how hard it is just to get through OCS. I remember seeing graduates from prestigious colleges around the US fall aside on the hill trail in Quantico or just not have the demeanor and temperament to become a Marine officer. As you go up in the ranks the competition gets even stiffer.
Gen. Langley is to be congratulated for his service and accomplishmnets.
