Sanders campaigns for Texas congressional candidate that would be easier for GOP defeat

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) flew to Texas on Friday to campaign for Jessica Cisneros, the progressive immigration lawyer challenging Rep. Henry Cuellar for the Democratic nomination in the state’s 28th Congressional District.

Cuellar, who has represented the district since 2005, narrowly led Cisneros in the primary on March 1, but neither candidate received a majority of the vote, forcing them into a runoff that will be held Tuesday.

The race has become a proxy war between the progressive wing of the party and House Democratic leadership, who are backing Cuellar despite his reputation as one of the more conservative Democrats in Congress.

At a rally held in San Antonio, Sanders attacked Cuellar’s voting record on abortion as the Supreme Court appears poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark case that legalized abortion nationwide.

Cuellar is a rarity among Democrats in opposing abortion, but most of the Hispanic voters in the district oppose abortion too.  The Valley residents are also fed up with the Bieden open border policies which have put a strain on the resources of local governments in the district. BTW, there is a reason why Biden's approval among Hispanics is down to about 26%. Cuellar could be the Democrats best chance of holding the district.

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare

Conn Carroll: A new survey of 368 midsize to large companies found that 29% of them are considering terminating their active employee health care plans when Obamacare is full implemented in 2014. Only 71% of employers surveyed said they did not expect to drop their health coverage, while 20% said they did not know and 9% said they were planning to exit. The latest survey, conducted by Towers Watson, echoes an ealier survey by McKinsey & Co. finding that 30% of private-sector employers were planning to drop their employee health insurance coverage by 2014.
