Russia begins military operations in Ukraine

 Epoch Times:

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a “special military operation” in Ukraine on Thursday, local time.

Putin said in an emergency address on Russian TV that the military operation is intended to protect civilians and to demilitarize Ukraine, and is a response to threats coming from Ukraine.

He said that Russia doesn’t plan to occupy Ukraine and said that the Ukrainian military should “immediately lay down its arms.”

Putin also said that any foreign attempt to interfere with Russia’s action will trigger an immediate reaction from Russia, and will lead to “consequences they have not seen before.”

Shortly after Putin’s address, explosions were reported in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, as well as in other cities, including Kharkiv, Mariupol, and Odesa.

President Joe Biden late Wednesday local time issued a statement saying that Putin “has chosen a premeditated war that will bring a catastrophic loss of life and human suffering.”

“The prayers of the entire world are with the people of Ukraine tonight as they suffer an unprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces,” Biden said. “Russia alone is responsible for the death and destruction this attack will bring, and the United States and its Allies and partners will respond in a united and decisive way. The world will hold Russia accountable.”

Explosions Heard Across Country; Biden Says World Will ‘Hold Russia Accountable’

The Washington Post reports:

The likely consequences for the US are probably increased prices for energy including auto fuel and home heating.  There could also be consequences for NATO members in the region which could suck others into a war including the US.

It should never be forgotten that Biden financed this war for Russia by driving up the price of oil and reducing the supply in the US in a foolish fight against "climate change."

Russia Today reports:

Biden orders troops to countries bordering Russia
The US is shifting forces from elsewhere in Europe to Baltic states to bolster NATO defenses

This is not enough troops to stop a Russian invasion but maybe enough to provoke a Russian attack.
