Biden is losing on the immigration issue

 Jeff Charles:

...

A Harvard/Harris poll revealed that 80 percent of Americans believe that illegal immigration is a serious issue. Even further, respondents indicated that the problem deserves more attention than the Biden administration is giving it. As you already know, Harvard isn’t exactly a bastion for right-wing thought.

About 68 percent of respondents also indicated they believed the president is encouraging illegal immigration. Not too surprisingly, 55% stated they believe former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies should have remained intact.

According to pollster Mark Penn, “Immigration is boiling up as an issue.”

Penn also noted that Americans wish the Biden administration to take a tougher stance on the immigration issue. He wrote:

“Sixty-four percent of registered voters want the Biden administration to issue new, stricter policies to reduce the flow of people across the border. Only 7% of voters could accurately call out the amount of monthly illegal immigrants crossing into the U.S. with 84% underestimate the number, suggesting we should expect stronger voter reactions if the crisis evolves further. Overall, 74% of voters view the current surge in illegal immigrants as a crisis that needs to be addressed immediately, and 56% do not view climate change, racism, and sexism as root causes of migration from South and Central America.”

Even worse, the poll showed that 55 percent believed that Biden’s border policies are “increasing the flow of drugs,” into the country while 45 percent felt the president is “simply treating people more humanely.”

It is also worth noting that the survey revealed that the Biden administration’s attempt to convince the American public that the migrant crisis is Trump’s fault has failed miserably. The survey showed that 61 percent of respondents believed the flood of unaccompanied minors surging at the southern border was the fault of the Biden administration.

When it comes to spending, most Americans are not quite on board the “spend into oblivion” approach that so-called progressives are pushing. According to the poll, 60 percent of respondents believed that “the Biden administration should spend far less than $4 trillion dollars and reduce any increases in taxes and the deficit.” Only 40 percent indicated that the White House should spend $4 trillion.
...

Voters are rejecting the Biden-Harris narrative about the cause of the illegal migration and it is not even close.   The voters are much more clear-eyed about the problems than the administration.  It is my opinion that Biden has opened the borders to try to help the Democrats steal House seats by flooding certain areas of the country with illegals that are to be counted in the census.
