US says Russia has violated arms treaty

Daily Mail:

Stumbling block: The Russian Novatar 9M729 ground-based cruise missile system is accused by the U.S. of breaching the INF treaty which Russia denies. The U.S. now says it will pull out of the treaty as soon as this weekend after talks to resolve the standoff failed

U.S. arms control officials say Russia has flouted the 1987 Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces Treaty and as a result the U.S. could leave it by February 2, allowing it to develop new long-range missiles.
The US says the cruise missile above has a range of 1500 miles and violates the 300-mile limit required by the treaty.  Russia says it does not exceed the 300-mile limit.  I suspect US intelligence has seen it tested and that is how the 1500 mile range was detected.
