More evidence that Turkey's Erdogan is a despot who targets political critics

Daily Mail:

New York Knicks center Enes Kanter says he will not be traveling with the team to play against the Washington Wizards at London's O2 Arena on January 17 over fears that he could be killed

New York Knicks center Enes Kanter says he will not be traveling with the team to play against the Washington Wizards at London's O2 Arena on January 17 over fears that he could be killed by spies.

...
Kanter currently faces four years in a Turkish prison for insulting Erdogan, whom the NBA star has repeatedly referred to as 'The Hitler of our century.'

Since 2016, when he survived an attempted coup, Erdogan has been cracking down on the media and political opponents, leading to thousands of arrests.
...
BTW, Nike which celebrated Colin Kaepernick has not offered Kanter a show deal or any other deal for fear of having its stores shuttered in Turkey.  Their slogan about a guy who believes in something even if it cost everything rings hollow when it comes to their treatment of Kanter.
