The foundation led by the family that built Walmart has spent more than $1 billion on some of the fastest-growing, and most divisive, trends in education.
The teacher's unions are the main opposition to these efforts to improve educational opportunities for those stuck in failing schools.  They hate the idea of competition, but it will force them to get better to keep their jobs.
