Inequality and envy

How often do you sit around angry that someone has been more successful than you in generating wealth?  I am pretty sure, I never have, although I worked for many who were much more wealthy than I.  Some were in the lucky genes club but all of them worked to sustain their wealth and in the process gave opportunity to others to work and prosper.

The one percent who are the envy of the Occupier class invest their money and put it to work and they buy things which create jobs for others.  They donate money to charities and they contribute to causes that inspire them.  I think they do a much better job of redistributing their wealth than the government does.

I don't always agree that their spending is helpful.  I think George Soros has invested in causes that have had a negative effect in this country.  Other wealthy people have donated lavishly to Democrats who have pursued polices I believe are bad for the country.  But it is their right and it is up to us to present the counter arguments.

Lawrence Summer talks about how he would deal with inequality.  To me it is still wealth envy.  You could confiscate the wealth of the top one percent and redistribute it across the board and with in a short period of time you would be back in the same place.  Even communist societies have inequality.
