'Mama baby'

Daily Mail:

A parrot has been honoured by the Red Cross for saving the life of a toddler.

It was Willie's cries of alarm which alerted his owner that the toddler she was baby-sitting was choking on her breakfast.

Megan Howard had left the room last November when the Quaker parrot noticed something was amiss with Hannah and began to raise the alarm by yelling 'Mama, baby' and flapping his wings.

Megan then dashed back to find the little girl turning blue and performed the Heimlich manoeuvre.

This speech required some intellectual capacity to observe and report as oppose to imitation. I am reminded of the story of the Japanese advance on Guadalcanal in World War II which was impeded by tropical birds that had picked up the Japanese words for "hit the deck" which was usually shouted when US planes from the base guarded by the Marines flew over.
