Why I like the Geithner selection for Treasury still

I jokingly said in an earlier post that the selection was good news because the Treasury Secretary select hated paying taxes too.

Many are now making excuses for his failure to pay all his payroll taxes as a common mistake. It maybe, but the real importance is that it focuses people seeing the reality of the tax bite that is hidden by the scheme that fraudulently implies that the employer is paying half the taxes and the employee is only paying the other half. From the employer's perspective this is totally bogus because it goes to the total burden of hiring and keeping an employee.

Geithner may be one of the few members of Obama's cabinet who comprehends what small business owners have to deal with every year. There is no way to hide the payroll tax with the slight of hand used to fool employees. It can hit you like a sock in the stomach on a quarterly basis. It will be even worse if Obama takes off the limit on payroll taxes.

A Treasury Secretary who understands that sock to the stomach as well as the pocketbook is an especially good thing in a Democrat administration.
