Gitmo detainees may go to US military bases
I don't think it will damage that program, but it will be more expensive than keeping them at Gitmo and it will not change their circumstances hopefully. It will give al Qaeda opportunities it does not have at Gitmo to try to do a jail break and release these terrorist into the general population of the US. To the extent that Obama releases these guys he is going to have a real Willy Horton problem on his hands. The Pentagon is looking at several military bases in the U.S. as possible sites to hold terrorist suspects now at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, including Camp Pendleton in San Diego and Fort Leavenworth in Kansas.
Sen. Sam Brownback, Kansas Republican whose state hosts Fort Leavenworth, told The Washington Times that an internal Pentagon study named Fort Leavenworth among other locations.
Fort Leavenworth is the site of a military training program for foreign military officers, and Mr. Brownback said he feared the presence of Guantanamo prisoners would destroy the program.
"You are going to kill our international training program. A lot of Islamic countries come through Leavenworth. We had students from 90 different countries there," he said.

Reuters reports that 61 former inmates have gone Willy Horton by returning to terrorism. CNN also has a report on the Gitmo Willy Hortons. I like using that description of the Gitmo alumni who return to terrorism, because the motivation of liberalism never seem to change on turning loose bad guys and they are always wrong.
Michael Ramirez comments on the Obama Gitmo plan.
